Novak Djokovic scripted history as he clinched his third French Open after defeating Casper Ruud in the finals in Paris. This was his 23rd grand slam win, making him the most successful person in the history of grand slams. He was earlier tied with Rafael Nadal at 22 grand slams, but now has the most number of grand slams held by a player by winning the 23rd. He won the championship match in straight sets 7-6, 6-3, 7-5.

The crowd erupted as soon as the last point was scored and Djokovic fell onto the ground in happiness as he soaked the victory feeling. This was his second grand slam of the year after he won the Australian Open after defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 7-6, 7-6 in the finals.

Twitter users reacted to this glorious achievement as celebrities as well as fans congratulated him for this record-breaking feat. Fellow rival and French Open veteran Rafael Nadal also congratulated him after the title victory.

Former English Cricketer Kevin Pietersen was also seen wishing Djokovic. He is known to be a massive admirer of the tennis player and has tweeted about him several times.

Another Twitter user posted an old video of Novak Djokovic practising tennis for the first time as a toddler and captioned it “ Novak Djokovic's first training sessions at 4 years old. 32 years in the making, after all the setbacks, he's about to finally take the grand slam record.”

Another all-time tennis great, Rod Laver, after whom the Laver Cup is named, also congratulated Djokovic’s achievement.

India’s current President, Smt Droupadi Murmu congratulated Novak Djokovic for “winning the men’s singles final at the French Open makes him the winner of the largest number of men’s Grand Slam titles in the history of tennis.” and said that she shares a special joy with the people of Serbia.
