The Rohit Sharma-led Team India are riding high on confidence as they are comfortably sitting at the top of the points table after defeating the reigning champions, England in their last fixture by 100 runs. While the side has been hit with an injury, but they haven’t let this injury concern hamper their campaign at the showpiece event.

But what comes as good news, the Men in Blue are likely to have their star all-rounder Hardik Pandya join the team for the playoff stage of the ongoing tournament. However, he missed the match against New Zealand and England, he is likely to sit out for a match against Sri Lanka.

It is to be noted that Hardik sustained an ankle injury in match against Bangladesh on October 19. But as per a report by Times of India citing a reliable source, Pandya has shown some positive signs in the rehabilitation and is likely to join the side for the semifinals.

“Yes, Pandya, who is presently recuperating at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, will join the team in Mumbai. Right now, we can’t be sure if he will play against Sri Lanka, but he’s slated to join the team,” a reliable source told TOI.

It is to be further added that Pandya’s absence has made way for Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammad Shami in the Playing XI against New Zealand and England. The Men in Blue will next take on Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium on November 2.
