In a big news coming prior to England's ODI series against Pakistan, the Men in Green's middle order batsman Haris Sohail remains doubtful for selection for the series opener. It is being reported that he will undergo a MRI scan on Tuesday and will also miss the coming two practice sessions. Haris is complaining of a “slight pain” in his right leg and a final call on his selection in the XI for the first ODI will be made following his scan reports.

Notably, Sohail, the left-handed batter, who has played 42 ODIs for Pakistan, had even missed the intra-squad practice matches owing to the same injury last week and is already undergoing rehabilitation.

"Middle-order batsman Haris Sohail is still feeling slight pain in his right leg and, as such, he will not take part in next two practice sessions scheduled for 5th and 6th July in Derby," the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said in a statement on Monday.

"Haris will undergo an MRI scan on 6 July in Cardiff, following which decision on his availability for the 8 July ODI against England will be made," it added.

Shadab Khan highlights match-winners in Pakistan squad ahead of England series

The three-match ODI series between the two teams, which also forms part of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League, will begin in Cardiff on Thursday with the team set to travel to the venue on Tuesday.

Ahead of series, the team vice-captain Shadab Khan highlighted the potential match-winners in the side and showed confidence in them putting up a good show in the coming games against England.

“Our middle-order is strong too with Babar Azam — who needs no introduction — and Mohammad Rizwan, who is fresh from winning the PSL 6. Haris Sohail is back in the side having scored over 50 runs per innings in the UK,” said Shadab while speaking to www.pcb.com.pk.
