Harsha Bhogle, one of the most sought-after cricketer commentators in the world, has made a hilarious gaffe on commentary during Day 1 of the World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023 on June 7. He is in London to broadcast the summit clash in the Test format, currently being played between India and Australia at The Oval.

The 61-year-old was heard saying that James Anderson, the English fast bowler came to Team India’s practice camp in the lead-up to the WTC final, to help out the bowlers. But, in reality, it was Soham Desai, the Strength and Conditioning coach of the Indian cricket team. If anything, Harsha Bhogle should be spared of the criticism coming his way for confusing Anderson with Desai, because their faces look uncannily similar to each other.

Notably, the Hyderabad-born commentator has been amongst the news a lot in recent times. Last week, Peter Drury, the legendary British commentator, called him his hero during the UEFA Europa League pre-match broadcast.

Meanwhile, for the unversed, Rohit Sharma, the captain of Team India, won the toss and chose to field first in the WTC Final 2023. Australia had a terrible start with the bat as they lost one of their openers, Usman Khawaja, who got out to Mohammed Siraj, without troubling the scorers.

David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne put up a decent partnership of 69 runs for the second wicket, before both the batters were dismissed in quick succession. As of current writing, Australia are 147/3, with Steve Smith and Travis Head in the middle, during the post-lunch session.
