T20 World Cup is only a few months away and Team India have started building the squad for the upcoming tournament in Australia. Every T20 match has been closely monitored by the selectors and the team management. The recently concluded T20I series against South Africa saw some brilliant performances from Dinesh Karthik, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Avesh Khan. While hosts went 2-0 down in the series, they did well to make it 2-2 before the final match was washed out.

After a few ordinary games, Yuzvendra Chahal returned to his wicket-taking ways, picking three and two wickets, respectively, in the third and fourth T20I against SA. Former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar has backed the spinner to play a big role in the upcoming T20 World Cup scheduled to be played in Australia in October and November.

"Yuzvendra Chahal is a player who was missed a lot in the last World Cup. He will definitely emerge as a trump card in Australia and give the Indian team good success," said Sanjay Bangar on a show.

"If any leg-spinner has played consistently for a long time for India, that is Anil Kumble. After Anil Kumble, if any wrist-spinner has played consistently for India or a long time, it is Yuzvendra Chahal", Bangar added.

Notably, despite performing brilliantly in the second half of IPL 2021 in UAE, Chahal was excluded from the T20 World Cup squad last year. The leggie was the highest wicket-taker in the recently concluded IPL as well, where he played for Rajasthan Royals.
