New Zealand veteran batter Kane Williamson has commended Virat Kohli’s endeavours for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Kohli has looked superb with his bat for RCB in IPL 2025, smashing 248 runs in six matches at a strike rate of 143.35. RCB are currently in the third spot on the league standings with four wins and two losses. Bengaluru will expect their star player to continue his brilliant form in the upcoming matches. Recently, Williamson participated at JioStar’s ‘Star Nahi Far’ event and met young kids to encourage them to take interest in cricket.

During the event, the Kiwi player also talked about Kohli and said, "Virat Kohli has done every season in the IPL. He is having an impact this season as well - hunger and passion remains the same for the game. He is extremely motivated with RCB to push for a title, and I'm sure this season they'll be there."

Williamson prefers Sachin Tendulkar over Kohli as his cricketing hero

At the event, Williamson also expressed his fondness and respect for the former Team India opener Sachin Tendulkar. The 34-year-old said the Master Blaster was his cricketing idol and he still watches him playing sometimes. "My cricketing idol was a guy who played at the maidan we were just at. Sachin Tendulkar he's the legend. I still see him playing sometimes," remarked Williamson.

Back in 2010, when Williamson made his impressive Test debut against India in Ahmedabad, Sachin also featured in the game alongside him. The right-handed Kiwi batter played a 131-run innings in the game and grabbed a lot of eyeballs. Following that match Williamson competed against Tendulkar in the next couple of Tests. That was the only series when Tendulkar and Williamson played against each other in competitive cricket.
