Babar Azam-led Pakistan finally registered their maiden win in the T20 World Cup 2022 against Netherlands on October 30 (Sunday) at Perth Stadium. After experiencing horrific start to their World Cup 2022 campaign, Men in Green came better off Netherland by registering 6-wicket win. While Pakistan needed to win the game against Netherland by huge margin, their batters failed once again as the side lost four wickets in chase of 92.
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, who is facing lot of flak from all around, continued his poor form in the third game of the ICC tournament as he got cheaply on 4 off 5 deliveries.
The like of Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar, and other former Pakistan cricketers lashed out at their skipper for his below par performance in a high-stake tournament. Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has joined the bandwagon by making a startling claim about the Pakistan skipper on Sunday.
While speaking at pre-match analysis of India vs South Africa match at Perth, cricketer turned politician stated that Babar Azam should quit T20 format of the game. "Babar Azam should not play T20Is," said Harbhajan Singh at Star Sports.
Although, Babar Azam is among the top-seeded batter in the format, his recent form in the ICC tournament has raised lot of questions on his abilities. In his first three games of the T20 World Cup 2022, Babar Azam has only managed to add 8 runs including a duck against arch-rivals India.
