Former Pakistani legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram recently released his autobiography, Sultan: A Memoir, which throws light on the left-arm pacer’s illustrious career. While the book goes through some of the highlights and unforgettable moments of Akram’s career, it brings out some shocking facts.

One of these revelations regarding the current chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board Ramiz Raja, who was also a former international player and shared the dressing room with Akram. Through the book, the pacer expressed that  Ramiz would be fielding in the slips because of the rank system in the Pakistani team.

Raja’s father was a police commissioner and hence the top-order batter got his preferred fielding position on the ground. Akram gave an example from a Test match against New Zealand, saying that Ramiz would drop catches more than he caught.

The excerpt from the book said, “The first over the next day was delivered by Asif Faridi, a local quick; I was thrown the new ball for the second. I was in my fourth over when John Wright, New Zealand's captain, nicked to Ramiz at second slip. For all his batting skill, Ramiz was at slip for reasons of rank, because his father was a commissioner and because he'd attended Aitchison College - he dropped more than he caught, frankly."

Talking about the book, the former Pakistan skipper announced the launch of his biography book in September this year. The book was then launched within the next few weeks and spoke about his twenty-year international career for Pakistan which was surrounded by drama and controversy.

The book is written by Wasim Akram with a veteran cricket writer from Australia called Gideon Haigh. He has also written other books like Mystery Spinner, The Cricket War, Stroke of Genius, On Warne, Shadows on the Pitch, etc. Akram made the announcement via Twitter and addressed that through this book, the audience will see the truth.

The tweet said,” "SULTAN" a memoir "Wasim Akram" by Gideon Haigh… Available for pre-order now!”
