Former India player and coach Ravi Shastri, after the fourth T20I between India and West Indies, opined that left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh should be part of the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The left-arm pacer picked up an incredible three-wicket haul as the Windies were bundled out for 132.

Shastri talked about how Arshdeep could be the variety that the Indian attack requires, especially in Australia, where conditions are favourable for fast bowlers. He has picked up seven wickets in the ongoing T20 series in West Indies. Shastri feels Singh could be the perfect addition to the established pace attack of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah.

“I think very close to because India need variety. And in Australia, left-armers normally do a good job. There is bounce and the angle that he creates. He (Arshdeep) will be an ideal foil when you look at the Indian attack,” Ravi Shastri said while talking on the post-game show.

“It should have Bhuvi, Jasprit, Shami and then if you put him in the mix and all you might know that he might play in one of the games given the opportunity”, he added.

Talking about the game, India lead the five-game T20I series 3-1 as they took down West Indies by 59 runs in the fourth T20I at the Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill, Florida. The Windies were chasing a total of 192 and were cleaned up for just 132.

Indian batters like Rishabh Pant, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav had a field day as they posted a massive score of 191. Then in the second innings, Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh put on a show as the duo combined to pick up five wickets while giving away just 29 runs in seven overs

Indian captain Rohit Sharma was pleased with this performance and said, “I think it was pleasing how we played the game. The conditions were not easy but we got to a good score. A lot of thought went in on how we batted and it was pleasing to see. The pitch was quite slow which our bowlers used to their advantage. I thought 190 was a good score, but with the kind of batting that WI have, no score is good. We played good cricket to get the win today.”
