The Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest footballers to grace the game ever. Amidst transfer speculation and a reported rift with the United manager Erik ten Hag, fresh reports have claimed that the Portuguese striker is currently suffering from depression.

It is being speculated that Ronaldo could be suffering from depression and to cope with the prevailing condition he recently consulted Canadian clinical psychologist Jordan Peterson.

The duo got together two weeks ago when the Portuguese striker was visiting the UK and the footballer shared a picture of himself standing next to Peterson.

"Nice to see you my friend #seeyousoon," the former Real Madrid and Juventus superstar had captioned his post while sharing it on Instagram. Ronaldo met Petersen ahead of Manchester United's away match against FC Sheriff in the UEFA Europa League.

Five-time Champions League winner Ronaldo is participating in UEFA's second-tier competition for the first time since his stint at Sporting. In his latest interaction with Piers Morgan Uncensored, Petersen opened up about his meeting with the footballer and revealed that he has some trouble in his life a few months ago due to which he consulted me.

“He invited me to come and see him. He'd had some trouble in his life a few months ago and a friend of his sent him some of my videos and he said he'd watched those. Then he read one of my books and found it helpful, he wanted to talk," Peterson said.

He further revealed that he visited Ronaldo's house and talked to him about the future and a few of the issues which the United striker is facing in his life. “I went out to his house, and we talked for about two hours. He showed me all his equipment for staying in tip-top condition, we talked about his companies. Mostly we talked about what he wanted in the future and some of the obstacles that he's facing,” he added.

The legendary footballer is not just going through a tough time personally but also with his professional terms with the United coach Erik ten Hag as the latter forced him to warm the benches. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has only netted a single goal in eight appearances for the Red Devils this season.

Ronaldo-led Portugal failed to seal a place in the UEFA Nations League semi-finals after the 2016 European champions suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Spain on Wednesday.
