The Pakistan Cricket Board recently underwent a massive leadership change as Ramiz Raja was sacked as the PCB chief. The board later assigned Najam Sethi as the head and also created a new four-member selection committee for the New Zealand series. Addressing this change of personnel, former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram has made some shocking comments about his former teammate.

While talking about Ramiz Raja’s tenure in an interview with Cricket Pakistan, Akram stated that the former Pakistan batter was supposed to be in power for a short span of time but overstayed his welcome. In the interview, the presenter asked about Raja, but Akram interrupted him and asked “Who?”

The reporter continued and asked, “How would you rate Ramiz Raja as PCB chairman?” To this, Akram said, “Look, I don't want to discuss this. Vo 6 din ke liye aaya tha, ab vo vaapis aa gaya hai apni jagah pe. (He came here for six days, now he's back to where he belongs).”

Further in the interview, Akram also talked about Najam Sethi as the better choice to head PCB as he has past experience and other important qualities for the role. He said, “Najam Sethi has experience, and it’s no concept that only cricketers should be PCB chairman. You need to be a good administrator, and you need to be a good communicator apart from having good reputation among other boards. Najam Sethi sahab is the best in that. People can disagree for all I care. It’s my opinion.”

After the change in management, Najam Sethi also confirmed the return of Mickey Arthur as Pakistan's head coach while addressing the media on Monday, January 23. Sethi also named former batter Haroon Rasheed as the chief of the national selection committee, who will take over from Shahid Afridi, who held the post on a temporary basis.
