After registering a dominating win by 295 runs in the Perth Test last month to go 1-0 up in the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25, the visitors, Team India, had a forgettable day out in the middle in the ongoing pink-ball Test, underway at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide. The Rohit Sharma-led side, who won the toss early in the match, were bundled out at the score of 180 in 44.1 overs, courtesy a six-for from Mitchell Starc.

Coming out to bat, Australia put up 86/1 on Day 1 with Nathan McSweeney(38*) and Marnus Labuschagne (20) stitching a crucial partnership after they lost Usman Khawaja early in the innings on Friday. During their stay in the middle, the Perth Test debutant McSweeney was on the receiving end of some brutal sledging from one of the greats of the game Virat Kohli.

The incident took place on the opening day of the pink-ball Test in Adelaide. Kohli approached McSweeney after Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah beat his inside edge with a peach of a delivery late in the final session. “He’s got no clue! He’s got no clue, Jass (Bumrah),” Kohli was heard saying on the stump mic, video of which has been doing rounds on social media.

Despite a few blows from Indian bowlers, Nathan McSweeney survived the opening day at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide, scoring 38 runs off 97 deliveries, with his innings being laced with six boundaries. It has to be seen if the hosts can put up a lead against the likes of veteran R Ashwin, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and others.
