Highest score for every team in IPL

In every IPL edition, we see some big scores getting posted in a span of 20 overs. In almost every second game, we witness some great batting records getting shattered in today’s era of modern cricket where the batter looks to smash every ball out of the park. In the last season of IPL, the record for the highest team total was broken multiple times. Apart from that, many franchises also achieved their record for the highest team totals in the IPL.

Every team has a record of their best team total in the IPL. However, there are a few franchises who shattered every previous record to put their highest total in the cash-rich league. In the following listicle, we will have a look at the highest score for every team in the history of the IPL. 

Highest score for each team in IPL

10. Rajasthan Royals: 226/6 vs PBKS in 2020

Rajasthan Royals’ highest IPL score came in a match against Kings XI Punjab (now known as Punjab Kings) in Sharjah on September 27, 2020. After PBKS posted 223/2 on board, RR skipper Steve Smith (50 off 27) and Sanju Samson (85 off 42) gave a tough fight with their knocks. After that, Rahul Tewatia came up with a match-winning knock of 53(31) runs followed by Jofra Archer’s 13* runs off three balls as RR ended up scoring 226/6 in 19.3 overs and won the match by four wickets. 

9. Gujarat Titans: 233/3 vs MI in 2023

Gujarat Titans achieved their highest IPL total in a match against Mumbai Indians during the qualifier 2 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 26, 2023. Batting first, Shubman Gill went on to smash his highest T20I score of 129(60) runs, hitting seven fours and 10 sixes as GT posted 233/3 on board. In reply, MI were bowled out for 171 runs in 18.2 overs as GT won the match by 62 runs to enter their second consecutive IPL final. 

8. Chennai Super Kings: 246/5 vs RR in 2010

Chennai Super Kings posted one of the highest totals at that time in a match against Rajasthan Royals at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium on April 3, 2010. Murali Vijay shone with a knock of 127(56) runs, hitting eight fours and 11 sixes as CSK posted 246/5 in their 20 overs. In reply, RR were restricted at 223/5 as CSK won the match by 23 runs.

7. Mumbai Indians: 247/9 vs DC in 2024

Mumbai Indians achieved their highest IPL score in a match against Delhi Capitals at Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 27, 2024. In reply to DC’s mammoth total of 257/4, MI gave a tough fight with the bat with Tilak Varma top scoring with 63(32) runs while skipper Hardik Pandya scored 46(24) runs. Apart from that, Tim David also scored a quickfire 37(17) runs but couldn’t take MI down the line as they were restricted at 247/9 and ended up losing by 10 runs despite posting their highest total in the IPL.

6. Delhi Capitals: 257/4 vs MI in 2024

Delhi Capitals reached the 250-run mark for the first time when they smashed their highest IPL total in a match against Mumbai Indians at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on April 27, 2024. Batting first, Jake Fraser-McGurk smashed 84 runs off 27 balls, hitting 11 fours and six sixes. Apart from that, Shai Hope also smashed a quickfire 41(17) runs while Tristan Stubbs gave finishing touches with 48(25) runs as DC posted a mammoth 257/4 and ended up winning the high scoring game by just 10 runs. 

5. LSG: 257/5 in 2023

Lucknow Super Giants smashed their highest total in the IPL in a match against Punjab Kings in Mohali on April 28, 2023. Batting first, Kyle Mayers scored quickfire 54(24) runs while Marcus Stoinis smashed 72(40) runs as LSG ended up posting 257/5 in their 20 overs and went on to win the match by 56 runs. 

4. PBKS: 262/2 in 2024

Punjab Kings (PBKS) shattered all the records and registered the highest successful chase in the IPL and also posted their highest score in a match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on April 26, 2024. In reply to KKR’s 261/6, Jonny Bairstow smashed an unbeaten on 108*(48) runs. Along with him, Shashank Singh also ended up scoring 68*(28) runs as PBKS chased the winning target in just 18.4 overs losing two wickets. 

3. RCB: 263/5 in 2013

Royal Challengers Bengaluru smashed one of the highest team scores in IPL that remained as the highest total in the tournament’s history for more than a decade. In a match against Pune Warriors India at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 23, 2013, Chris Gayle shattered all the records with his fiery knock of 175*(66) runs as RCB posted a mammoth 263/5 in their 20 overs. In reply, Pune could only score 133/9 as RCB won the match by 130 runs. 

2. KKR: 272/7 in 2024

Kolkata Knight Riders went on smash their highest team total in IPL in a match against Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam on April 3, 2024. Sunil Narine shone with a knock of 85(39) runs while Angkrish Raghuvanshi scored a quickfire 54(27) runs. After that, Andre Russell (41 off 19) and RInku Singh (26 off 8) took charge in middle overs as KKR ended up posting 272/7 in their 20 overs and ended up winning the match by 106 runs. 

1. SRH: 287/3 in 2024

Sunrisers Hyderabad boast a record for the highest ever team total in IPL history for their furious batting against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 15, 2024. Travis Head shone with a fiery 102(41) runs while Heinrich Klaasen scored 67(31) runs. Apart from that, Aiden Markram (32* off 17) and Abdul Samad (37* off 10) gave finishing touches as SRH posted a mammoth 287/3 on board and went on to win the match by 25 runs.
