Hockey India on Tuesday, September 17 announced a prize money for the Asian Champions Trophy 2024 title winners, who defeated China by 1-0 margin to secure back-to-back title wins. India, who came into the final on an unbeaten streak, defeated the hosts, China at their own den at the Moqi Training Base in Hulunbuir City, Inner Mongolia.
While the match was one of a clash with both teams putting their best game into display, India’s Jugraj Singh was the only goal scorer, who found the back of the net in the 51st minute of the game to give India a 1-0 lead in the crucial moments and secure them with a much needed win. With this, the Harmanpreet Singh-led side also recorded their fifth win from eight editions, which is most in the continental tournament.

After India’s historic win, the governing body of hockey in India, Hockey India announced a handsome cash reward for the 2024 Paris Olympics bronze medallists. “India's Asian Champions Trophy heroes rewarded! 🏆🇮🇳 The victorious Indian Men's Hockey Team gets a well-deserved bonus for their record 5th title win! Each player will receive ₹3 lakhs, while support staff members will be awarded ₹1.5 lakhs each,” Hockey India revealed after team’s triumphant win against China.
“This well-deserved reward celebrates not just the 1-0 win against China, but also India's unparalleled achievement as the only country with 5 ACT titles. From defending champions to record-breakers, our team's journey exemplifies excellence,” their statement further read.
Narendra Modi, among other leaders congratulate Indian men’s hockey team
India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi along with other dignitaries took to social media to congratulate the Indian men’s hockey team for their historic achievement. “Congratulations to the incredible Indian Men's Hockey Team for winning the Asian Men's Hockey Champions Trophy 2024! Their remarkable performance, unwavering spirit and dedication have made the nation proud,” PM Modi captioned a post on X.
