Indian ace badminton star HS Prannoy opened up on India’s strategy for the upcoming Thomas Cup 2024. World ranked ninth and one of two India’s men’s singles representatives at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Prannoy will lead India’s charge at the upcoming Thomas Cup 2024 and will have the presence of all members from India’s historic Thomas Cup winning squad. The Thomas Cup 2024 will be played from April 28 to May 5 in Chengdu, China. Prannoy revealed India’s approach and strategy for the upcoming tournament.

The 31-year-old shuttler spoke exclusively to SportsTiger, where he revealed that the reigning champions will aim to defend their title this year. He said, “From a fact saying that we are the defending champions of Thomas Cup right now and going into a tournament like that is always special. But when you look at it from a different perspective, there are a lot more teams right now who are looking very, very strong.

He added, “It's going to be very, very tricky for us out there because the group stage matches are going to be very tricky, especially since we are drawn with Indonesia, Thailand, and England and so all the matches are going to be really tough with the fact being that when it comes to these kinds of team events, a lot of things needs to come together.”

The 2022 Asian Games bronze medalist further added, “It all depends on how well the team is going to gel because it's going to be a very young team again and it's important that how every individual player is physically and mentally fit at that point, which is going to make a big difference. Hopefully, we can come back with the title like how we did a couple of years back.”
