Rohit Sharma-led Team India registered a comfortable six-wicket win against Bangladesh in their 2025 Champions Trophy opener on Thursday, February 20 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Among the bowlers, star Indian pacer Mohammed Shami picked a fifer, etching several records with it, Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul played a gritty knock to help the side chase the 229-run target with ease.

After the win, Team India climbed to the second spot in the Group A, sitting just behind table-topper New Zealand, who clinched a 60-run victory against the hosts, Pakistan earlier. With a win on Thirsday, India inched closer to securing a semi-finals berth, but will have to surpass two more challenges as they are yet to take on Pakistan and New Zealand.

How can India qualify for Champions Trophy 2025 semi-finals?

The win over Bangladesh gave India two points on the board as they eye to secure the first place in the Group A standing. For that, the Rohit Sharma and Co. will have to win both their remaining matches. However, even if they lose one, they will still have a chance to qualify for the final four, but will have to ensure of a better run-rate than the other two teams.

But if India loses both their remaining games, one each against New Zealand and Pakistan, they could be virtually be out of the tournament. Speaking of the matches, while the much-awaited Pakistan versus India clash is scheduled for Sunday, February 23, Rohit Sharma-led side will then take on New Zealand in their final group stage fixture on Sunday, March 2 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
