On Monday, December 30, Team India was handed a crushing defeat at the hands of Australia in the fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne. The Rohit Sharma-led side who cameback in the game on Day 3 of the Boxing Day Test, courtesy maiden Test century from Nitish Kumar Reddy, failed to restrict the hosts the following day.
After getting dismissed at the score of 369 runs early on Day 4, Australia then added to their 105-run lead, posting 340 runs on the board for the visitors to chase on the final day. Although, it proved difficult for Team India to get 340 runs on the board, but they eventually played for a draw. But with seven wickets coming in the final session and India scoring only 43 runs with the bat, Australia reigned supreme, winning it by 184 runs.
