The semifinal lineup has Benfica or Marseille clashing against Liverpool or Atlanta in one fixture. In the other semifinal, Milan or Roma will meet either Bayer Leverkusen or West Ham United. If Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen progress through the next two rounds, they will clash against each other in the final.

If it happens, the clash would be one of Klopp’s final fixtures in charge after more than eight years of taking charge. The final will place him against Alonso, who has reportedly been in talks of taking over at Anfield after Klopp’s departure. Notably, Alonso is the standout candidate as Alonso’s replacement, whose side is currently on an unbeaten 37-game streak.

The fixture will also mark Alonso’s return to Liverpool, where he spent a huge portion of his career from 2004 to 2009. During his tenure, Xabi made 210 appearances and scored 19 goals and 18 assists. Not only this, but Alonso was also a part of the UEFA Champions League winning squad in 2005, along with UEFA Super Cup in 2005 and FA Cup in 2006.
