How many medals did Pakistan win at Tokyo Olympics 2020?

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games officially came to an end on Sunday. Although it brought enormous joy to some nations it wasn't the same for many others. Pakistan too participated in these Games which were originally scheduled to happen in 2020 but were pushed back by a year due to the onset of the COVID-19. It was Pakistan's 18th appearance at the Olympic Games and although they would have hoped for a medal to end their drought at the games since 1992, they were left with disappointment.

However, despite not getting a single medal at these Games, this was their best performance since 1992 as two of their athletes Talha Talib & Arshad Nadeem reached the finals of their events but missed out on a medal. In addition, Gulfam Joseph also missed out on reaching the final by a little margin.

Earlier, Pakistan cricketer Shadab Khan pledged to set up a fund for Pakistan's Olympic athletes. He took to social media to make the announcement.

"Within the next year, I pledge to set up a fund for Pakistan’s Olympic's athletes in preparation for the next Olympics. Looking at people like Talha Talib, we all should play our part in supporting Pakistan’s heroes. Please join me for Pakistan. #SKOlympicsFund #PakistanZindabad," he tweeted.

His announcement came after Talha Talib, a 21-year-old lifter from Gujranwala, who was making his debut appearance at the Olympics and took part in the 67kg category, held the gold medal spot until the final round before ultimately being bumped down and being denied even a bronze, finishing fifth. While China's Lijun Chen won the gold medal, Colombia' Luis Javier Mosquera and Italy's Mirko Zanni clinched the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

Even Arshad Nadeem reached the finals of the men's javelin throw but finished fifth with a best of 84.62 m.
