The second El Clasico of IPL 2022 was marred with controversies. It started with the toss delay due to flashlights going off. Then it was Devon Conway not getting to review the on-field umpire's decision due to the unavailability of referral. Amid all this drama, CSK collapsed and were bowled out for a more 97. MS Dhoni fell alone with wickets tumbling at the other end. The CSK captain remained unbeaten on 36 off 33 balls.
Other than Dhoni, Ambati Rayudu, Shivam Dube, and Dwayne Bravo got into double figures. Three of CSK batters were dismissed for a duck. However, it was not an easy win for Mumbai Indians as well. The five-time champions got off to a nervy start and lost four wickets in the first six overs. Nonetheless, Tilak Varma once again stepped up and played throughout the innings to ensure MI's victory.
Varma got good support from Hrithik Shokeen and then Tim David. While Shokeen was dismissed after scoring 18 off 23 balls, Tim David sealed the game for MI with two maximums off Moeen Ali.
