Team India spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has finally opened up after being officially ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022. Notably, Bumrah was ruled out of the 1st T20I against South Africa after complaining of back pain. However, he was later ruled out of the remaining T20I series after suffering a back stress fracture with Mohammed Siraj being named as his replacement.
The pacer had earlier missed the Asia Cup due to injury and made his return to the side for the Australia series, but was later ruled out of South Africa series. Bumrah has been nursing his injury at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bengaluru and is gutted to miss the marquee tournament scheduled to commence this month.
He also thanked for the wishes, care and support he has received and added that he’ll be cheering for the team from the sidelines.
After being hopeful of making a return before the ICC event, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday ruled him out of the tournament.
“The BCCI Medical team has ruled out Team India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah from ICC Men’s T20 World Cup squad. The decision was taken following a detailed assessment and in consultation wit the specialists”, the statement read.
The Indian cricket board also confirmed that they’ll announce his replacement soon.
Talking about the Men in Blue, the side will leave for Australia on October 6 and will play a few practice matches before the take on Pakistan in their tournament opener on October 23.
