While speaking at the press conference ahead of the Aston Villa game, Guardiola spoke about how the club has done no wrong and will fight this case as they did against UEFA. He also stated that the club hasn’t lied to him and hence he will be standing with Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola said, “I am not moving from this seat, I want to stay. More than ever, I’m sure. They did not lie to me. Look what happened with UEFA, we did not do anything wrong. Why should I not trust my people?”

When asked about the possible ramifications faced by Manchester City, Guardiola stated that he and the club will accept all the punishment. But further questioned the league about possible payback for damages if they are termed to be innocent. He said, “Time will dictate what is going to happen. But just in case we are not innocent, we will accept what the judge and the Premier League decide.

“If what happened with UEFA is we are innocent, then what happens to restore our payback, our damages? There are no enemies or friends, just interested [parties]. It is the same accusations, the same as before. If we are guilty, we will go to the lower divisions like before and call on Paul Dickov and Mike Summerbee!”
