Former South Africa cricketer and one of the greats of the game of cricket, AB de Villiers recently called his take at confirming Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s “second child on the way” remarks a “terrible mistake”. While he made these comments on the sidelines of the SA20 2024 in South Africa, in one of his YouTube live, the batting great has now apologised to the Kohli family.
However, while speaking on his YouTube channel ahead of the SA20 2024 grand finale, AB de Villiers issued an apology to Virat Kohli and his family. He also urged fans to respect the cricketer’s privacy. “My friend Virat Kohli is still not available. I cry out to everyone to give him the privacy that he deserves. Family comes first. No one knows what exactly is going on. I am asking all of us to respect that. I did bit of blunder in my previous show and I apologise to the Kohli family for that,” ABD said in his live session on Sunday, February 10.
“Just not nice. I share information that was not confirmed at all so. I am begging everyone out there to respect him and his family and his private time. Hopefully, we will see Virat back, happy and scoring runs as he always does,” he further added.
The former cricketer, who is one of the close friends of Virat Kohli, landed himself in trouble after he revealed his conversation with the Indian batter. While speaking on the sidelines of SA20 knockouts, AB de Villiers had said, “Yes, his second child is on the way. Yes, it’s family time and things are important to him. If you are not true and genuine to yourself, you lose track of what you are here for.”
