Veteran India opener Shikhar Dhawan has been left out of the Indian T20I squad on multiple occasions recently and the team management only considers him for the ODI matches. However, the left-handed batsman is not 'disappointed' on being overlooked by the Indian selectors.

Team India have been experimenting various players on different positions to form a balanced team before the T20 World Cup this year. In the last 22 T20Is, Team India have tried eight different openers including Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar Yadav among others.

While talking to Sports Tak, Shikhar Dhawan said, "To be honest. I don't feel any disappointment as such. I feel that there is a time for everything, and maybe it's not my time. Maybe I lack something that I haven't been able to do too well. No worries, I gave my best and that's what matters. Till the time I am happy and content, that is all I care about. It's not like if my name doesn't come, I will be affected or anything like that. I am in a very good space; I am doing my best."

"If the opportunity is provided, then why not? When I play in the IPL, I try my best to perform. And if I do well there, I might get a chance. The rest is up to the selectors… what their thought process is, what their vision is. Like I said, if it comes, great, but even if it doesn't, that's also fine. I am keeping myself fit and strong, and whenever I get the opportunity, I am ready for it," he added.

Shikhar Dhawan replaced Rohit Sharma as the ODI captain against West Indies last month and will be leading India against Zimbabwe this month.
