Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo’s second stint at Manchester United has not panned out the way he would have liked. Not only in terms of performance but the camaraderie has also been missing since Ronaldo joined the Red Devils back in 2021. Things became worse when Erik Ten Hag took over the management of the Red Devils.

Ronaldo has been warming the benches for most of this season. The striker even lost his cool when he was made to sit in United’s game against Tottenham Hotspur. Ten Hag took the matter into his own hand and disciplined Ronaldo and the striker was back in the playing lineup in a few games after that. But that has not changed the way Ronaldo looks at his relationship with Erik Ten Hag.

The 37-year-old has clearly stated that he has no respect for the Man United manager as he shows no respect to him. In a chat with Piers Morgan on the Piers Morgan Uncensored TV show, Ronaldo spoke about anything and everything about his second stint at Old Trafford. During the same, Ronaldo talked about his relationship with Ten Hag.

“I don’t have respect for him because he doesn’t show respect for me," Ronaldo said. “If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never gonna have respect for you. Not only the coach, but another two or three guys around the club. I felt betrayed."

Ronaldo also revealed that he never felt welcomed at Man United when he made a move from Juventus at the suggestion of Sir Alex Ferguson. “Yes, I felt betrayed and I felt like some people don’t want me here, not only this year but last year too."

“I followed my heart. He (Sir Alex) said to me, ‘It’s impossible for you to come to Manchester City, and I said, ‘OK, Boss’. “The progress was zero. Since Sir Alex left, I saw no evolution in the club. Nothing had changed. I think the fans should know the truth. I want the best for the club. This is why I come to Manchester United.

“But you have some things inside that don’t help (us) reach the top level as City, Liverpool and even now Arsenal . . . a club with this dimension should be top of the tree in my opinion and they are not, unfortunately.”
