
Indian Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra urged the Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar and his office to resolve Kishore Jena’s visa issues. Jena, a promising javelin thrower, is facing issues related to his visa ahead of the World Athletics Championships 2023. The Diamond League champion requested the Indian Cabinet Minister to look into the matter and find a solution.
The 2023 season of the World Athletics Championships is set to be hosted in Budapest, Hungary, from August 19 to August 27. In the forthcoming tournament, a contingent of 28 athletes will represent India. Jena, who is also eyeing the upcoming contest, is dealing with visa issues, which might cause a hindrance in his participation in the competition.
Taking it to Twitter, Chopra urged the Indian minister to find a solution to the problem. He tweeted, “Just heard that there are issues with Kishore Jena’s VISA, preventing him from entering Hungary for the World C’ships. I hope the authorities are able to find a solution, as this is one of the biggest moments of his career. Let’s do everything we can. 🙏@MEAIndia @DrSJaishankar”
Jena has occupied the 33rd spot in the world’s javelin throw rankings. The rising star won gold at the 101st Sri Lankan Championships by recording a personal best throw of 84.38 m in July 2023.
