Former India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel had some harsh words for Team India on Day 1 of the World Test Championship Final 2023 against Australia. After winning the toss, Men in Blue put the Aussies for a bat and got off to a great start after dismissing Usman Khawaja on a duck. They continued to pick wickets until Steve Smith and Travis Head got in the middle and started their massive 251-run partnership.

Head managed to score a century in just 106 balls and then ended Day 1 at the score of 146 in 156 balls with 22 fours and one six. While Smith after a poor start, ended his day at 95 in 227 balls with 14 boundaries. Reacting to this performance,  Parthiv Patel expressed that Team India seemed to have no plan for the Aussies. While talking on Star Sports,  Patel said, " I think the Indian team came with 0 plans for Day 1 in WTC Final."

Coming back to Travis Head, the Adelaide native talked about how he was trying to get into good positions to get set and then capitalise after the conditions got better for batting. He also praised Steve Smith for his performance and stated how the former Aussie captain ease the pressure on him.

While speaking to the broadcasters, Travis Head said,  "Losing the toss this morning, we've done exceptionally well. There's still plenty there as you could see with that second new ball. A lot of hard work to go tomorrow morning but nice to make a really good start. I was trying to make sure I was in really good positions today. I got tested through parts of that. I just tried to work through those periods and be adjustable. It's nice when you've got a bloke at the other end playing as well as he is, it's a nice start."
