Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has had some tough times back in India. The 31-year-old has struggled to take part in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with frequent injuries. Although Marsh made his IPL debut way back in 2010 and played in six seasons, he has only played 29 matches so far (eight of which came in 2022). This tells how irregular he has been in the Indian T20 league.
Even in 2022, after signing with Delhi Capitals, it seemed Marsh will miss the whole season after suffering an injury during his team’s tour to Pakistan. However, he recovered under the guidance of DC physio. But another blow came his way when the DC all-rounder contracted COVID-19. These unfortunate turns of events made Marsh feel like he was cursed in India.
While talking to cricket.com.au, Marsh revealed how he felt playing in IPL 2022. The 31-year-old said he enjoyed his time here. "After my first couple of weeks there I thought that I was cursed in India," Marsh said.
"I got through my initial injury - which was very minor - but then to play one game and get COVID, it was a bit of a shaky start but once I got going it was nice to put a few consistent performances on the board," he said before adding "I absolutely loved my time there."
Notably, Marsh scored 251 runs and claimed four wickets in 8 matches for DC this season.

The Aussie all-rounder further talked about his experience under coach Ricky Ponting. Marsh was all praise for DC’s head coach lauding him for making players feel special. "Everyone speaks about him so much and what he's achieved in the game, but I got a real sense of how much he cares for his players - I guess that's probably what he was like as a captain and a leader of a team," he said.
"Just the way he makes you feel - he made me feel like I was a really important player for Delhi. You gain confidence from that when a leader instils that sort of confidence in you," Marsh added.
