Norwegian striker Erling Haaland has officially completed his transfer to the English club Manchester City. While talking to the club’s website, he talked about the influence of his father in the decision to sign with the Citizens. He also opened up about how he has been a City fan throughout his life and that signing with the club is a very proud moment for his family.

“So, ‘why City?’ is probably a redundant question! First of all, my father, a little bit,” Erling explained. “I was born in England. I have been a City fan my whole life. I know a lot about the club. In the end, [deciding to sign was down to] two things."

"I feel at home here and I feel I can develop and get the best out of my game at City. I like the style (of play). I like the attacking football. I like the positive vibe we have when City play football. This is what I like a lot, so I think it’s a good fit.”

“I like it. It is beautiful, I like the colour! It’s a big, huge stadium and I like to play there.”

Erling Haaland then talked about how he is waiting for playing in the Eithad Stadium and also opened up about his love of the old Manchester City stadium Maine Road. “I have been there a couple of times before watching games,” he said. “I like it. It is beautiful, I like the colour! It’s a big, huge stadium and I like to play there.”

While talking about Maine Road, he says: “I have been to a lot of games (there). I don’t remember, but I have been to a lot of games with my mum, sister and brother watching my father play.”

“Pep is one of the greatest managers of all time”

The 21-year-old then talked about his excitement about playing under Pep Guardiola. He said, “This is a proud day for me and my family. I have always watched City and have loved doing so in recent seasons. You can’t help but admire their style of play, it’s exciting and they create a lot of chances, which is perfect for a player like me.”

“There are so many world-class players in this squad and Pep is one of the greatest managers of all time, so I believe I am in the right place to fulfil my ambitions. I want to score goals, win trophies and improve as a footballer and I am confident I can do that here. This is a great move for me and I can’t wait to get started in pre-season.”
