Argentina, Brazil and defending champions France are being considered as the favorites to win the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. Ahead of the World Cup, former England forward Wayne Rooney has revealed the two legendary players he 'would love to see' win the Cup in Qatar.

Lionel Messi-led Argentina are among the favorites to lift the World Cup as many predictions have been made in favor of the South American champions. However, teams like Brazil, France, England, Belgium are among the prime contenders to win the Qatar World Cup.

While talking to TOI, former England captain Wayne Rooney delivered his verdict as he wants either Argentine skipper Lionel Messi or former teammate and Portugal's captain Cristiano Ronaldo to win the FIFA World Cup 2022. Rooney said, "I would love to see either Messi or (Cristiano) Ronaldo win the World Cup. It would be a fitting end to their incredible careers. I'm sure Messi will be doing everything he can to try and help Argentina win.

The 37-year-old Rooney's first pick is his national side as he mentioned, "If it's not England, then I would like either of them to win the Cup."

With just a few days remaining in the beginning of the FIFA World Cup 2022, defending champions France are facing serious troubles with it's player's fitness as N'Golo Kante and Paul Pogba have already been ruled out while their young forward Christopher Nkunku suffered a leg injury on Tuesday, which was a big blow for his side. Considering these injuries, France might not enter the World Cup as the tournament favorites.

Wayne Rooney also picked the teams that can reach the semifinals stage as he said, "I will go with Belgium, Germany, Argentina and England."
