The Indian men’s and Women’s T20I teams have had some incredible moments in 2022. Rewarding these performances, seven Indian players, across these two teams have been selected into the ICC 2022 T20 teams of the year. From the men’s squad, top-order batters Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav and all-rounder Hardik Pandya have made the eleven. Whereas, the Women’s team includes Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh and Renuka Singh. 


Talking about the men’s team, Virat Kohli rediscovered his form and returned to his run-scoring self. He was the second-highest run-getter with 276 runs in Asia Cup. Then he had another stellar performance in T20 World Cup and finished as the highest run-scorer with 296 runs. After Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav was one of the most exciting cricketers of 2022. 


The Mumbai batter racked up 1164 runs two hundreds and nine half-centuries while striking at a stunning 187.43 to finish as the highest run-getter of the year. To conclude the men’s team, Hardik Pandya made an incredible return to international cricket with top form in all three departments. He had 607 runs while also picking up 20 wickets.



Addressing the Women’s team, Smriti Mandhana had an incredible year with the bat, making 594 runs at an average of 33.00 and a strike rate of 133.48. In the middle order, Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh also put on stellar performances throughout 2022. Sharma had 29 wickets while batting at an average of 18.5.



Whereas Gosh emerged as an incredible finisher with a strike rate of over 150 while amassing  259 runs. To finish off the women’s list, Renuka Singh had a breakout year where she picked up 22 T20I wickets at an average of 23.95 and an economy rate of 6.50.
