Four Indian cricketers including two women have been nominated in two of the three separate categories of ICC awards for the year 2022. While Suryakumar Yadav headlined the nominations in Men's T20I category, Arshdeep Singh has been nominated as emerging player. Two Indian women cricketers - Renuka Singh and Yastika Bhatia – are nominated as emerging cricketers in women's cricket.

Indian middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav took the cricketing world by storm with his sheer consistency and swashbuckling batting style throughout the year. 31-year-old was one of the highlights for the Indian cricket as he became the first Indian and second in the world to hit more than 1000-runs in any calendar year in T20Is.

The Indian star smashed 1164 runs including two hundred and nine half-centuries in T20Is. He has been nominated alongside Zimbabwe allrounder Sikandar Raza, Englishman Sam Curran, and Pakistan’s prolific batter Md. Rizwan.

Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh was added in the national squad after his incredible performance in IPL 2022, and the left-arm pacer grabbed the opportunity with both hands. In his maiden T20 World Cup appearance, Singh was the leading wicket-taker for Men in Blue with 10-wickets in six innings. In 21 T20Is, the lanky pacer took 33 wickets at an average of 18.12.

Due to his consistency in the T20Is, Singh was recently handed the ODI cap during New Zealand tour. Renuka Singh and Yastika Bhatia are two of the Indian women cricketers who have been nominated in the Emerging Player category, with Australian Darcie Brown and England’s Alice Capsey.

Both the Indian women’s cricketers were instrumental for the side as Renuka claimed 40-wickets in 29 matches across two white-ball formats, while Yastika Bhatia proved her mettle with the bat. Notably, nominations in the Test category will be revealed on December 30th (Friday).
