Bangladesh started their World Cup 2023 campaign with a huge victory against Afghanistan with the help of an all-round performance from Mehidy Hasan Miraz and brilliant bowling performance from Shakib Al Hasan. Bangladesh winning the toss, invited Afghanistan to bat first and bundled them for just 156 runs with Gurbaz being the top-scorer (47) for their side.
Bangladesh chased this total convincingly with more than 15 overs to be spared with fifties from Mehidy Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto respectively.
