India opener Rohit Sharma has jumped as many as six places to a career-best eighth position in the ICC Men's Test Players' rankings after a stand out performance in the low-scoring third Test against England in Ahmedabad. Sharma seemed to bat at a pitch of his own as everybody struggled. Hitman not only top-scored with 66 in the first innings but remained unbeaten at 25 in the second innings, helping India reach their target with a six to complete a 10-wicket win.

Currently, Rohit Sharma's rating points aggregate stands at 742 which is 20 more than his previous best of 722, which he touched in October 2019 when he was ranked 10th. In the process, Rohit has surpassed teammate Cheteshwar Pujara among several top-batsmen in world cricket.

Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin also climb up the ladder

Player of the Match of the Ahmedabad Test Axar Patel and his senior spin partner Ravichandran Ashwin climbed the ladder for bowlers' rankings after an impressive win. Patel's 11-wicket haul in the match helped him take a 30 slot jump to reach the 38th position. Meanwhile, off-spinner Ashwin's 7-wickets in the match have helped him reach the third place. Ash was previously ranked seventh.

Jack Leach, Zak Crawley also improve in Test rankings

In contrast, England spinner Jack Leach entered the top 30 for the first time as he reached the 28th place after registering a four-wicket haul in the Indian first innings. Although the England captain did not have the best of the outings with the bat, his maiden fifer in first-class cricket has lifted him 16 spots to the 72nd place. Zak Crawley's half-century, helped him advance 15 places to the 46th position in what was the only major improvement in English batters' rankings.
