Former India batter Ravi Shastri heaped praise on India’s latest batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal ahead of the second Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Ahead of the game, the cricketer-turned-commentator lauded the youngster and said that Jaiswal can be a pretty devastating cricketer.

However, in India’s second innings, the youngster made up for his previous knock and registered his first overseas century. Jaiswal contributed a total of 161 runs from 297 deliveries, with a combination of 15 boundaries and three maximums as guests posted 487 runs for the hosts. Hailing the batter for his knock, Shastri, one of the most versatile names in the world of cricket, said, “Jaiswal at the top because if he gets in, he can be devastating. You know he plays spin very well, he plays at his own tempo, he’s got all the shots in the book. He’s an entertainer, so if he gets in as we’ve seen in his, you know he has the ability to get the big scores. You don’t hit two consecutive double hundreds just like that.”

He emphasized on India’s previous record on the land Down Under and suggested that India has won each of the past four editions of the series. Notably, Australia last won the series in 2014-15 with the margin of 2-0. Not only this, but he also suggested that while India hold good value to claim a third straight series win in the Aussie land, Rishabh Pant or Yashasvi Jaiswal are expected to end up as the batter of the series.
