Chennai Super Kings lifted their fifth IPL title in what was their tenth appearance in the tournament’s history. The MS Dhoni-led side beat defending champions Gujarat Titans by five wickets to equal the record with Mumbai Indians.
However, it wasn’t the day for the Gujarat Titans to make it two-in-two, GT skipper Hardik Pandya stole the show with his kind words. Pandya, who follows and seeks advice from the legend and CSK skipper MS Dhoni said that he is happy to lose for MS. “If I had to lose, I am happy that I lost to MS Dhoni,” Hardik said at the post-match presentation.
The Indian all-rounder to his statement also added that good things happen to good people, citing MS Dhoni to be the best of all. “Good things happen to good people, and he’s been one of the best people I know,” Hardik added. He also lauded his team for the efforts they have put in as he said, “We win together, we lose together.”
The 29-year-old led his team for the second consecutive season finale in the 2023 edition. The defending champions who finished at the top of the points table in the league stage, entered the final after beating five-time champions Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2.
