World no. 1 Iga Swiatek defeated  Czech international Karolina Muchova to clinch the French Open 2023 title. After Swiatek's big first-set win (6-2),  Muchova took the long route and clinched the second set on a 7-5 tie-breaker with an outlandish shot as she connected with the ball while falling on the court.

The third set got off to a lop-sided start with Muchova carrying her momentum and winning the first two games in convincing fashion. But Swiatek managed to rediscover her rhythm and broke back to 2-2. Both competitors went blow to moving forwards before  Iga Swiatek clinched the final set with a 6-4 margin .

With this win, Swiatek became the youngest player since 2002 to win four women's singles Grand Slam titles. The last women player to achieve this feat was Serena Williams, who won the 1999 US Open, the 2002 Roland Garros, the 2002 Wimbledon, and the 2002 US Open.

Speaking on the court after her win, Swiatek praised Karolina Muchova for her performance and expressed elation about overcoming a tough opponent.  "Thank you guys," she began. "First of all, congrats to Karolina, members of my team are witnesses that ever since we first played, I knew we would play tough matches, tough finals because I was really struck with your variety on court and I really hope we’re going to have many more finals.

"I wouldn’t be here without my team, sorry for being such a pain in the… I’ll try to do better, I know I won this tournament but it wasn’t easy being on tour for a couple of weeks without any breaks, it’s tough so I’m really happy we can feel satisfied right now and just celebrate, so thank you guys.
