Top ranked Iga Swiatek and her Polish team will play Alexander Zverev’s Germany in the United Cup 2023-24 final. The Polish team, which includes Iga Swiatek and Hubery Hurkacz, entered the final after a hard-fought win over France on Saturday, 6th January.  

While ranked number ninth, Hubert Hurkacz beat Adrian Mannarino of France 6-3, 7-5, Iga Swaitek outclassed Carolina Garcia 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 to set up the final clash against Germany in the lead-up to the Australian Open 2024. On the other hand, speaking of Germany, the Germans edged host Australia 2-1 with a win in the mixed doubles.

The mixed doubles pair of Alexander Zverev and Angelique Kerber gave the Germans a 7-6, 6-7, 15-13 win over the Aussies on Saturday after Kerber gave a 1-0 lead with 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7) win over Ajla Tomljanovic. Later, Alexander Zverev got toppled 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 by Alex de Minaur in the men’s singles to level the match 1-1, going into the mixed doubles.

The United Cup is played between top stars from both ATP Tour and the Hologic WTA Tour. The 2024 edition is being Perth and Sydney in Australia. While the United States team were the defending champions after they won the mixed teams' competition in 2023, the 2024 edition will see a new winner in either Poland or Germany.
