22-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal has pulled out of the Barcelona Open, starting from next week, due to his injury. Nadal confirmed on Friday that he will miss the upcoming tournament as he is still not prepared for it. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation and working on his match fitness following a hip injury he sustained at the Australian Open in January. Nadal is focusing on making his return to the French Open, the title he has won for 14 times.
The Spaniard took it to his social media and announced his withdrawal from the upcoming tournament. Confirming his pull out from the Barcelona Open, he wrote on Instagram, “Barcelona is a special tournament for me because it's my adopted club and because playing at home is always a unique feeling. I'm still not prepared and therefore I'm still in my preparation process for the return to competition.”

Now that Nadal has pulled out from the upcoming clay tournament, he has only four more clay tournaments left to play this season. While the Srpska Open and ATP Munich will commence on April 17, ATP Madrid will begin from April 26. Additionally, ATP Rome is said to start on May 10, while ATP Geneva and ATP Lyon will start from May 21.
Nadal is set to make his comeback in the French Open, where he will chase his 15th title and 23rd Grand Slam title. The second Grand Slam tournament will begin from May 28. Apart from being a 14-time French Open winner, the Spaniard has won two Australian Open, two Wimbledon Open, and four US Open titles.
