Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend MS Dhoni concluded his Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season following his side’s final game of the season against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Chennai failed to live upto their fans expectations in the competition but showed their valiant side in their season’s last game and ended their campaign on a positive note by beating Titans by a massive margin of 83 runs. Batting first, Chennai posted 230 runs on the board which became too tall for the hosts to achieve. Dhoni supporters didn’t get the chance to see him bat.
Following the match, when Dhoni was asked about his participation in the next year’s IPL edition, the 43-year-old said he will take the decision regarding it after five to six months. "It's good. I wouldn't say today was housefull, but decent number of crowd. Good to finish on a winning note. This was among the perfect performances. This was one game where the catching was also good. It depends. I have four or five months to decide [whether to play or not]. It's professional cricket; you have to be at your best. It's not performances. What's important is to see how much hunger you have. I have enough time to decide. I'll go back to Ranchi. I'm not saying I'm done; I'm not saying I'm coming back. I have the luxury of time,” said Dhoni in the post-match presentation.
Noor Ahmad holds the Purple Cap after picking up a three-wicket haul against GT
CSK ended their campaign at the bottom of the points tally with four wins and 10 losses but their Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad looked sensational with the ball. In 14 games, he bagged 24 wickets at an economy of 8.16 and ended up as the leading wicket-taker for the Yellow Army.
Another positive happened to CSK this season was Dewald Brevis. The young South Africa batter smashed 225 runs in six matches at a breathtaking strike rate of 180.00. Chennai concluded at the bottom of the points tally for the first time in their 18-year IPL history.
