As international cricket returned to Lord's, the infamous England rain also announced its arrival on Friday. The first Test between England and New Zealand, which was very evenly poised, had its first two sessions of Day 3 washed out due to continuous rain in London. While the Kiwis opted for an indoor net session to keep themselves engrossed in some action, it was not a great sight for the fans across the globe as the lack of action today could force the match towards a boring draw.

Manage it better from next time: Fans to ICC

After rain played a spoilsport during the first Test between England and New Zealand, the fans expressed their concern if it was a similar case in the World Test Championship final which is scheduled to begin from June 18 onwards in Southampton. With the weather in the UK always uncertain during the summer, the fans wanted ICC to keep these things into consideration and manage the scheduling better from next time. Reflecting on the decision to organize the WTC Final in England, some fans pointed out that it would be ridiculous to have two years of competitive and hard-fought cricket by both sides go in vain with a rain-affected game in the grand finale.

Ae Chalu Kar: Twitterati trolls English weather

Apart from raising concern around the WTC Final, the netizens also did not waste the opportunity to troll the typical English weather. While some hilariously pointed out that UK confuses the summer season with rainy season, one fan was left confused by the fact that how a format that needs five consecutive days to complete is so popular in the country where rain is so constant. While few people got frustrated and demanded some cricket action to begin, some experienced people were quite calm as they admitted that it was not the first and the last time that rain was having an impact on a match in England.
