India won the first Test match by a mammoth margin of an innings and 132 runs with the help of brilliant performances from Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel and skipper Rohit Sharma. Ravindra Jadeja once again proved his worth as all-rounder by scoring 70 important runs with the bat in lower order and picked 7 wickets (5/47 & 2/34) with the ball. Ravi Ashwin was star bowler for India in final innings of the game as he picked another five-wicket haul with the ball and helped India to wrap up the Australia innings.
