The five-match T20I series between India and England will not allow fans anymore in the stadium following the rise in COVID-19 cases. The update was given by Gujarat Cricket Association on Monday for the remaining three matches of the series.  The news comes as a shock as the games had just started witnessing crowds coming back to the stands. Following the update, Gujarat Cricket Association has also assured the fans for refund of the purchased tickets. Currently, the five-match series stands level at 1-1 with next game slated to take place on Tuesday.

Earlier, the state association had allowed 50 percent crowds in the stadiums as the pandemic conditions saw improvement. However, the decision will no more be applicable due to a sudden spike in the COVID-19 cases. Notably, nothing has been notified about the three-match ODI series that will commence from March 23 and continue till March 28. So, while fans can bid goodbye to plans of watching T20 action from stands, hopes for ODI are still alive.
