I ndia beats Lebanon to qualify for the final of the SAFF Championship 2023 to take on Kuwait. The Blue Tigers played out a thrilling 0-0 draw as the game carried over to the penalty shoot-out where India put in a magical performance and registered a 4-2 win. Talking about the game, both teams had some great moments but failed to capitalise on a poor performance in the final third.
Kicking off proceeding, Lebanon were on top with early threatening attacks where Gurpreet Singh Sandhu was the star as he made some crucial saves. Soon it was India who dominated through the flanks but couldn't find the winning goal.
After a gruelling extra time, the penalty shoot-out started with India captain Sunil Chhetri scoring the first penalty. Carrying this momentum, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu denied Shour with a stunning save. Then with India's second spot kick, Anwar Ali converted before Waleed Shour made it 2-1 for Lebanon.
Naorem Mahesh Singh made the score 3-1 but Mohamad Omar Sadek also found the back of the net keeping the game alive for the visitors. As Udanta Singh slotted India's fourth penalty, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu continued his stellar form to save the Lebanese penalty to seal India's qualification.
