India qualified for the World Test Championship 2021-23 Final on Monday as New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by two wickets in the first Test of the two-match series. The Rohit Sharma-led team will now face Pat Cummins’ Australia in June at The Oval.
As India’s qualification chances relied on the result of the Test series between New Zealand and Sri Lanka, everyone had their eyes set on the game at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. And much to the delight of Indian cricket team fans, it was none other than two greats who made it possible.
While Virat Kohli ensured India does not lose the fourth and final Test as he scored a ‘daddy hundred' (186), New Zealand’s Kane Williamson also played his part by scoring a much-needed century. Williamson scored 112* in the chase of 285.
