India suffered a shocking defeat in the first ODI as Bangladesh clinched a low-scoring thriller. After posting 186 on the board, India almost had Bangladesh as they reduced them to 136/9. But Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mustafizur Rahman pulled off a heist as they stitched a 51-run partnership for the tenth wicket and sealed the deal for Bangladesh. Meanwhile, India were abysmal in the field, to say the least. Now, with the second game to be played at the same venue, the Rohit Sharma-led team will seek redemption and will try to level the series.

The pitch at Shere Bangla National Stadium was a tricky surface to bat on. Both pacers and spinners had something to capitalize on and hence it was difficult to hit through the line. However, there were runs on offer as well but for the batters who could apply themselves and play the situation. A similar sort of pitch is expected for the second ODI.

India were terrible with the bat, getting bowled out for only 186. Had KL Rahul not been there, it would have been worse for the Men in Blue. Captain Rohit Sharma got a start but once again fell early. Virat Kohli could not tackle Shakib Al Hasan. Shreyas Iyer hung around a bit but could not make it count. Meanwhile, the lower-middle order completely collapsed with four wickets falling for four runs. KL Rahul played good cricket and scored a much-needed half-century (73). The bowlers did make a game out of nothing as Mohammed Siraj bagged three wickets. But the fielders did not do well enough to help the toiling bowlers. In the end, Bangladesh won the game by the barest of margins and India could only scratch their heads. Now, with the series on the line, Rohit Sharma and Co. will look to bounce back and assert their dominance back.

However, the Tigers faltered a bit as they lost wickets in a cluster. They lost four wickets within ten runs and almost handed India a win. Nevertheless, Mehidy Hasan became that pillar and sealed the deal. With the ball, Shakib was exceptional, bagging five wickets. Ebadot Hossain too got four wickets.
