After the ODI leg of the India-Sri Lanka series, the T20I series also got underway with an exciting game on Sunday. The Shikhar Dhawan-led side eventually won the game comfortably and now all eyes are on the second T20I, which is also set to be played at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. However, ahead of the match, one may choose to wonder whether rain, which briefly interrupted the final ODI as well as the opening T20I, have any impact on the second game of the three-T20Is.
As it is known, rain can have a lot of impact on the result of the match and the mindset of the team even forcing captains to reconsider what they would do if they were to win the toss. Moreover, with wet outfield and the Duckworth Lewis system coming into play, teams tend to prefer chasing in these kind of matches but if it doesn't rain then the plan can even backfire.
Thus, for a proper reading of the match, the think tank may have a brief look at the weather with the final call being taken based on the experience of matchday since the match will commence as late as 8 pm.
Weather forecast for India vs Sri Lanka 2nd T20I:
At the outset, there are good enough chances of rain throughout the match day at Colombo. In fact, the forecast shows 40% probability of precipitation. It even predicts a weather of "mostly cloudy with thunderstorm in spots" throughout for July 27 in Colombo. The rain probability increases to 65% during the night time, which is when the match will begin. While the temperature is likely to be around 30 Degree Celsius during the day, it will be around 27 Degree at night.
Even if the rain plays a spoilsport, fans would hope that they are able to watch some action and have a result at the end of the day. Both teams need to bat a minimum of 6 overs as per the DLS rule, which means, if this criteria is fulfilled, it is enough to get a result. Rain did spoil India's momentum in the final ODI and the visiting team would look to improve on their mistakes from their game, if they find themselves in a similar situation on Tuesday.
