Former Indian fast bowler Sreesanth has opened up about the failure of Indian team to lift the World Cup after 2011. The pacer from Kerala was part of India’s both ICC titles before the 2013 Champions Trophy. But recently Sreesanth claimed that if he would have been part of Virat Kohli’s team over the last seven years, the Men in Blue would have won all of those tournaments.
Sreesanth was speaking in a CricChat on the ShareChat Audio Chatroom and said, “If I would have been a part of the team under Virat’s captaincy, India would have won the World Cup in 2015, 2019 & 2021." The 39-year-old was a crucial player in the 2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa and took the tournament-winning catch in the final.
The former Kerala Ranji Trophy player also remembered being with Sachin Tendulkar after winning the World Cup and how Tendulkar was emotional about the win as it was his dream of seeing India win. “We won that World Cup for Sachin Tendulkar.”
In the same chat, Sreesanth opened up about how he mastered bowling yorkers. He said: “It is important to visualize while playing and small regions do not make any difference. Rather it is better to learn such tricks here, given there are a few distractions. My coach taught me how to throw Yorkers with tennis balls."
After retiring from first-class cricket this year, Sreesanth will be playing the second season of the Legends League Cricket. He said, “I am super excited to be back on the ground, to be part of the Legends, and looking forward to playing in LLC Season 2.”
