Indian esports players, especially PUBG Mobile and Arena of Valor players find themselves in a fix regarding their participation in the 2022 Asian Games. After the Indian government's decision to ban both the aforementioned games in the country, the players have not been able to get a hand on them. Although an alternative for PUBG Mobile, Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) has been introduced, it's of no use for players as it has not been included in the Esports category for the Asian Games.

Notably, it will be for the first time that Esports will be a medal sport at the Asian Games in Hangzhou. But Indian players can only rue the government's decision to put a ban on these games. Nonetheless, there might be a slim hope for the players as the Esports Federation of India (ESFI) is seeking clarity from the concerned ministry.

According to an Indian Express report, officials from the Esports Federation of India (ESFI) are likely to meet sports secretary Sujata Chaturvedi to seek permission from the government for the participation of Indian gamers in these two games, which are medal events at the Hangzhou Asiad.

“We have to get permission from the government to participate in these events,” ESFI President Vinod Kumar Tiwari said. “Can we hold a qualifier for it and go for it? We are speaking to the ministry and we will try to explain. If they give us the go-ahead, we will compete in all sports else we will compete in six.”

Notably, as per the available information, the team size for ‘Arena of Valor’ will be five players plus one substitute, while ‘PUBG Mobile’ can have four players and a substitute in a team.
