Indian bridge captain Ranjan Bhattacharya has refused the reports of the bridge team leaving Pakistan after the unrest following Imran Khan’s arrest. He has declined the reports of the Indian High Commission in Pakistan asking the team to leave the country. The Indian team is currently in the neighbouring nation to participate in the Bridge Federation of Asia and Middle East Championship organised by the Pakistan Bridge Federation in Lahore.
Clarifying the rumours, the Indian captain has said that they haven’t received any instruction to leave the country amid the unrest following the ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan’s arrest. Several reports circulating claimed that the Indian contingent had been asked to leave Pakistan midway the championship. Sharing team India’s performance in the championship, Bhattacharya said, “Indian team is performing well. We are winning, and we will qualify in all the four categories." He further added, “As of now we have no instructions and there’s no truth in this whole fact that an instruction has come to us from the High Commission. I’ve been in touch with the High Commission. We talk to each other every day.”

Bhattacharya has also asked everyone to not react to any news that comes up. Notably, the Indian captain earlier said that the team is happy to be in Pakistan. He said, “We are happy to come to Pakistan, we cannot forget the love and affection we received from Pakistan, we are grateful to Mubasher Lucman and Pakistan Bridge Federation, because of whose efforts we came to Lahore today and we have come here to play.”
